Exotic Tastes and New Sensations
Holidays in Turkey are a fantastic opportunity to sample the famous Turkish cuisine; many who try the local dishes are instantly hooked on the rich and savoury food. Turkish cuisine is not particularly hot however the uses of spices create unique and exciting signature flavours. Many Turkish dishes are based heavily on the use of vegetables, lamb and mutton. Seafood is another key ingredient in Turkish cuisine.
Many Turkish dishes are cooked through either roasting or grilling, making it quite a healthy choice. Whilst enjoying your holidays in Turkey make sure you try one of the famous Turkish kebabs. A doner kebab in Turkey is nothing like the ones you may get from your local kebab shop on the high street. Expect intense flavours and mouth watering meat.
Turkish cuisine is quite easy to prepare however the tastes and colours that come out of it are spectacular, it is no wonder it is one of the most popular cuisines in the world. Many of the meat portions are quite small in restaurants however expect an abundance of seasonal marinated vegetables to fill you up!
Fresh bread is served with all meals, baked early in the morning for breakfast and used throughout the day. Desserts are predominantly fruit based with a selection of fresh fruit and fruit juices. There is also the famous Turkish delight for those with a sweet tooth!
Whilst enjoying your Turkish break, food can be sampled from one of the many ‘hazir yemak’ restaurants, a high quality equivalent to fast food. Snacks and side dishes are available from the wide selection of street vendors and stalls, in particular the variations of kebab.
It does seem a shame to visit this country and not sample the delicious and exotic cuisine. With a vast amount of Turkish restaurants appearing all over Europe, there is obviously something special about Turkish cuisine. Next time you book your holidays in Turkey, research the best restaurants and treat your taste buds!
